Digital Marketing: The BIG FISH

Hello My dear reader. Vanakkam, Namaskar and Namaste!

I am Janani Ravikumar, a social media strategist and content curator based out of Chennai. Among so many, I am also an engineering graduate (wondering why I did :p). Life after engineering was like a movie with a dead slow screenplay. It was hard but yeah life’s climb.

Right after my engineering, I got my profound interest in social media and I started to research more and reached a point which was my first stepping stone towards Digital Marketing. To all the engineers who read my blog, Trust me you can take a huge step into Digital Marketing right after your engineering if you know the tricks to market the product/service to the right audience. 

Coming to Digital Deepak Internship, I have been following Mr Deepak Kanakaraju for a year and a half and learning under his guidance was the motivation to join this online internship program. Thus I enrolled myself in to learn from the best in the industry.

Below are the key takeaways from the first sessions: 

The First class was about the basics of marketing, how communication plays a vital role, finding the niche, global economy and future of Digital marketing. 

“You need to be a Marketer first” – Core of digital marketing is basic marketing strategies and knowledge on knowing the right audience. 

What is Digital Marketing? 

As technology evolves, the way of marketing also keeps upgrading. Digital marketing is advertising the product or service through digital platforms. Today, multiple companies have started practising Digital marketing as it a cost-effective method to reach a maximum number to grab their attention.

Finding the Gold

Fancy Right? To become an awesome Digital Marketer the first thing you have to do is to find your goal. Since writing down your goal helps you to keep track and clarify what you want to do. Also, it is important to find your niche and work on it as the market is ever-expanding. 

Mr Deepak stated, “Market needs always expands because solutions to needs rise to a new needs. I completely agree with him on this. 

Global economy

Honestly, I never liked to learn economy as a subject but after the first session, my interest in the subject has grown. Below are the points Mr Deepak covered: 

i) The economy of the country goes up when the average age of the country goes up. 

ii) The economy goes down when the average age goes up above 50. 

iii) Debt creates money. 

iv) Deflation of money supply happens when people start repaying debt. 

v) During the recession period, weak companies fall and the strongest will survive. 

vi) And the average age of our country is between 27-28 and there are huge opportunities out there since the market is ever-expanding. 

Communication – The Key skill

Either in our life or a market or social platforms communication plays a humongous role. The way we communicate will drive the content thus increasing the sales funnel. 

Here I would like to say, I am not a writer but I always wanted to improve my blogging skill and establish my thoughts through blogging. I hope this program helps me to achieve my goal. 

Some of the ways to improve your communication skills are: 

i) Read books daily.

ii) Listen to podcasts on leisure time.

iii) From my experience, watching movie and series have helped me a lot to maintain certain slang and style and so is stand up comedies. 

Future of Digital Marketing

The first question anyone taking up Digital marketing will be “What will be the scope of it and how much will I earn if I take this as my career?” 

Digital marketing won’t die because the core of it is Marketing, which will never die. 

The world is moving towards digital transformation. Also, as the need for the product or service grows up, the solutions for it gives birth to a new needs and so the ways to market it will also go up. 

As I said earlier, Many companies have started to implement a digital marketing and establish themself on the social platform to create a trust factor and also to generate content from the feedback given by their brand ambassador. 

Integrated Digital Marketing

“Content is the king.”

Content is the first thing the sells to the people out there. With it, you can first drive the organic traffic back and forth to your website and your content. Likewise, you can route the traffic to your social platforms and thus to the content. With the blog traffic, you will be able to build an email list. Generate a new content piece and drive the traffic to your website using your email list. Other than this Paid advertisement also help you to build your email list and drive traffic to your content. And when you have good email marketing and content marketing you can step into sales and convert them into your prospects. 

Niche Down

Niching down according to the market demand is important. The niche should be a combination of Passion, Talent and Market opportunity.

Be passionate about what you are doing, excel in the same and become best at it. 

There are three major niches: Health, Money and Relationships.

Finding Market Demand

Finding market demand is also another important thing to consider before starting anything. Little bit research about the market and the needs should be wise. 

There are tools by which you can find the market demand. Some of them are Google Autosuggest,  AnswerThePublic.comMozSEMrushAhrefsKeywordsTool.io etc. Apart from that amazon review may help you to get a better understanding of the people needs.

Build your Personal Brand 

“The best known will always beat the best.”  It is true that even when you are the best people will always go for the best known because of authenticity. So be the best and also be the best known. Never hesitate to put your content and to be unique. Establishing oneself in social media is one way to become the best known. 

There are so many benefits after you build your personal branding. You can build a business out of it and people will be eager to hear it from you. 

Brand Funnel

Brand funnel is the mindmap for your brand, you will execute based on the pipeline you’ve constructed. Let me point out how to construct the pipeline: 

i) Giving away for free to build trust and also to let people experiment about the product/service. The number of people signing up for free will be your first customers who will become the brand ambassador later.

ii) Building a relationship and engagement with the audience is the one which helps a brand to move forwards. 

iii) Make the funnel automated.

iv) Key is to get 1,000,000 people at the top of the funnel to get 1000 people at the bottom of the funnel. 

v) Finally, people at the bottom of the funnel will eventually become your brand ambassador.

Above are the things that I have learnt in my first session of Digital Deepak Internship. The first session of the program was super informative and super interactive. Looking forward to more such sessions.
